Relieve Toothaches Naturally

How to Ease Toothaches Naturally

My coworker’s molar recently broke under pressure from a crowding wisdom tooth.  Not having dental insurance, he treated the area gingerly for a while and then forgot about it.  The pain kept increasing until he had to rely on vicodin.  He was worried the tooth would easily become decayed or infected, yet he didn’t schedule with a dentist right away.  When the tooth completely fell apart, he told me he could "tickle his nerve" with his tongue.  That’s when I stood over him until he made his appointment with the dentist.

Not all maladies can be cured naturally.  Yes, he needed traditional dental care, but in the meantime, he discovered some effective, natural methods of pain control:

Chronic Pain Control Through Breathing Exercises

Chronic Pain Relief Through Breathing Exercises

I experienced severe pain when I had a cyst on my ovary the size of a newborn baby’s head. The cyst required surgery, which revealed severe endometriosis. My pain did not subside after surgery. The pain was so sharp, so debilitating, and I was helpless and desperate.

First, I tried mind-over-matter. For example, I pictured my favorite serene place where I spent a lot of time as a child. I would sit on a wet rock at the oceanside, explore tide pools, and gaze into the distance and into the waves. But through my pain, I couldn’t get there–the suffering  wasn’t permitting imagination.

Then, I tried relaxation recordings. But listening to soothing recordings of environmental sounds or classical music didn’t help me either. My pain wouldn’t let me get outside of my body to meld with the sounds and relax.

I discovered that trying to escape my pain with my mind didn’t help me, that what I needed to do was go deeper inside my mind, to concentrate on the pain, to let it happen, and to not be afraid of it.

Prevent Back Pain

Prevent Back Before Pain It Starts!

I remember seeing my father’s back all out of alignment. As a young girl, it was spooky to see his spine literally crooked. He bowled, skied, played golf–all sports that potentially could have given him some trouble with his back. We weren’t sure what actually caused the problem, and there didn’t seem to be a likely cause. He was thin, exercised regularly, and was in good health. Still, there were some other things he could have done to make sure he would have a healthy back, too.

These exercises are a good preventative but are also helpful for current back pain.

Lemons - Another Cure-all

LemonsLemon - A short introduction

A couple of days ago, I wrote about being under the weather because of a virulent cold. In spite of all the natural remedies that usually work, this one refused to go away, till i realised that I was suffering a lot less than the person I caught it from. So they did work, just not enough to cure it permanently. Now that I think about it, they probably would’ve cured it, if I had had the courage to continue with those remedies for more than a day.

In any case, I digress. One of the staple drinks I have every morning is hot water with lemon. No sugar, no honey, just lemon. And I feel like a star for the rest of the day. Why? Because lemons just are that great.

More Relief for Painful Menstrual Periods

Traditional Pain Relievers or Natural Remedies for Menstrual Periods?

Sometimes it seems that nothing will help relieve a painful menstrual period. Endometriosis is the number one cause for painful menstruation. Endometriosis is a disease in which the tissue that lines the uterus, or the endometrium, is found outside of the uterus. Like the uterine walls in preparation for pregnancy, this tissue builds up every month, and then during a period, sheds and bleeds. However, there is no way for the body to rid itself of the blood that is outside of the uterus. This causes lesions to form, resulting in pain and inflammation and a large variety of other often quite serious ailments.

This disease is only officially diagnosed through surgery, and surgery is often the most effective treatment.

So, how can one rely only on natural pain relief when faced with surgery?

Down with the Flu

 Down and OUT

I really must apologise for my prolonged absence of late, I have been battling the most debilitating cold. And this isn’t your average, run-of-the-mill runny nose-sore throat wimpy cold, which is incidentally bad enough, but a horrible one with the accompanying headaches, sinusitis, body aches, toothaches and more symptoms than I care to remember.

It took away a week of my working life, something I cannot afford at all as a writer with deadlines, but it would’ve eaten up more time if I hadn’t used some granny recipes to stop in in its tracks

Natural Pain Relief for Headaches III

women headace faceFind Pain Relief Now: Headache Avoidance

This is Part III of my series on headaches. If you have tried heat and herbal therapy and still haven’t found relief from constant headache pain, the key for you may be avoidance. If you get headaches daily, you need not only to find pain relief in order to cope in your every day life, but also to find the cause of your headaches or migraines.

The best way to find out what is causing your symptoms is to record everything you eat.

This will take some trial and error.

If your symptoms persist, visit a nutritionist or your primary physician.
