Back pain is a common problem today, whether it is from a pulled muscle, muscle spasm, pinched nerve, or slipped or herniated disc.  While many people opt to utilize over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Advil or Ibuprofen to relieve back pain, several herbs may be just as effective at relieving back pain naturally.  In fact, medical and herbal remedies for back pain aim to reduce pain and inflammation.

Herbs for Fibromyalgia Pain

You have Fibromyalgia; you ache all over and you are constantly feeling fatigued.  Perhaps you are already maintaining good sleep hygiene and going to water exercise classes on a regular basis, but you still hurt.  You may want to consider supplementing your diet with herbs to help naturally reduce Fibromyalgia pain.  Several herbs have been found to be effective in relieving specific Fibromyalgia symptoms, which I will discuss below.

A Primer on Diabetes

How it started

I haven’t been able to post for almost a week now, and that’s because my grandmother has fallen victim to diabetes. One day my aunt came home from work and found her in convulsions.  She was foaming at the mouth and her eyes had rolled back into her head. We all had a nasty shock, as we hadn’t the slightest notion of what had happened.

At some point of time of the other, we have all suffered the pain of a back ache. The most common form seems to be a dullish, yet definite ache in the small of one’s back, or at least that where I feel the pain most.

The Dreadful Pain of Strains

Strains, otherwise known as pulled muscles, are never fun to deal. Strains (or pulled muscles) are typically caused by over stretching, stretching a part of your body that you aren’t used to stretching, etc. A strain develops when the muscle fibers tear. The signs of a strain are usually stiffness, pain, inflammation, etc. The key things to remember when treating a sprain is to always stop whatever activity that caused the strain, ice the pulled muscle with an ice pack, keep the pulled muscle elevated in order to prevent blood from pooling in the painful area. But what if all of that isn’t enough? The good news is that there are natural ways of treating a strain in order to heal it.

Cayenne for Pain Relief

caynenne red pepper on vineThe Magic of Capsaicin

Capsaicin is an amazing compound found in the common cayenne pepper.

Capsaicin ( cap-SAY-sin) is used to help relieve many types and sources of pain. One of the main forms of pain capsaicin effects is neuralgia. Neuralgia is a pain from the nerves near the surface of your skin.

How it works

Capsaicin is also used to temporarily help relieve the pain from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Capsaicin lowers the level of Decapeptide Substance P (DSP) in the joint fluids that provide cushioning between the bones. Capsaicin breaks down DSP, which can destroy cartilage and also magnify the sensation of pain.
