Coughing up a Storm

Finally Stop That Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a condition that I especially hate. Bad bronchitis can leave you coughing every couple of seconds. This excessive coughing not only exhausts you and hurts your throat, but it can be very annoying for those around you. Every year, at the beginning of spring, I suffer from the annoying cough. I have tried every remedy under the sun. Below is a list of remedies that helped cut back on my explosive cough.

After an exhaustive week, I managed to finally cut my coughing down to a few coughs a day, usually in the morning. This relief finally came to me after plenty of rest and water. With each glass of water and each painful cough, I was able to cough up some of the mucus that was backed up in my lungs. I tried to avoid lying down too much, because that resulted in me coughing more. I also avoided any mucus-causing products like dairy products. I never wanted these products anyway because even the slightest sip of milk caused an extreme tickle in my throat that almost always lead to a cough.

I tried to make sure that I coughed whenever the urge came on. By doing this, I was able to continually release much of the mucus that was causing my cough. To get myself to cough better, I made sure that I kept my environment moist. There is nothing worse than a dry cough. I used a herbal heating pad to help keep my lungs warm, encouraging the break up of mucus. I also made sure that I got a humidifier. Humidifiers are great for creating air that soothed my cough.

There are also plenty of herbs that I found helped with my bronchitis:

  • Althea Officinalis
  • Elder
  • Hyssop

Mostly, it felt as if the water and rest helped relieve my cough more than anything else. After a week of exhaustion, I was able to return to my life with full energy.
