Helping the Heel Heal - Sore Feet

Cracked heels might seem unattractive or even result in painful soles at times. But at their worst, cracked heels can cause bleeding and even infection. Many of us suffer from dry skin and our sore feet can easily be cracked feet when we spend long periods of time standing. These cracked heels might make you want to get off your feet, since cracked heels can be very painful to stand on. Luckily, there are ways that you can ease the dryness in your skin and recover from cracked feet.

You know you have cracked heels when the bottom of your feet have turned white. You might notice that this occurs on other parts of your body as well, but the feet are the worst place to have dry skin. Since all of your weight is placed on your feet when you are standing, your feet are bound to split.

There are some ways that you can prevent this from happening. You can avoid standing for long periods of time and wear open-backed or thin-sole shoes. For easing the pain and providing your feet with soft support, you might want to get a good pair of slippers. You can also get seamless socks, which provide extra padding when you are walking around at home in your socks. The fastest way to experience pain relief, however, is to stay off your feet for awhile.

To help your cracked heel heal, get your feet moisturized. It is a good idea to moisturize every part of your body on a daily basis, but the feet especially need moisturizer. Moisturizer not only makes your skin soft, but also prevents dry air from pulling moisture out of your feet. You might decide to rush out to the store and find the nearest moisturizer you can grab, but beware of moisturizers that contain alcohol, which can dry out your skin more in the long run. The best moisturizers contain:

  • Aloe Vera
  • Cocoa butter
  • Olive oil
  • Rose water

Although moisturizer is always good for your skin, the best time to apply moisturizer is right after showering.
