Essential OilsPlant Oils

In a few of my previous posts, I have mentioned the use of oils for pain relief. Very useful in either small or large quantities, they can also give the sufferer a sense of well-being as they are natural and smell wonderful. They can be difficult to find sometimes, and more often than not, are quite expensive. So what do you do? Make your own.

How-to

Start with a 600ml of cold-presses, virgin olive oil and a handful of the plant, either fresh of dried. Place in a air-tight bottle and stand in the sunlight for approximately 2 to 3 weeks. After that, drain any water that collects on the surface. Keep the oil in a dark coloured bottle and use as required.

Don’t throw out the water that you had drained off earlier, because if you are making rose, lavender or orange flower oils, then these distillates are the floral waters. They can be used as a refreshing toner. Depending on the plants used, floral waters can also be added to warm water to make a tonic.
