Pain Relief for Your Hands

If the ligaments and tendons that connect to your muscles and bones start to inflame, you notice the pain. Not only is the syndrome agonizing, but it can prevent you from performing simple actions like unscrewing a cap from a bottle. Since the daily strain of life can cause carpal tunnel for anyone, everyone is at risk of developing this syndrome.

The pain that you experience from carpal tunnel syndrome might fill you with anguish. If you want quick pain relief, there are herbal mittens that you can wear. The herbal blend promises to relieve stiffness and pain and carpal tunnel responds well to heat therapy. You should also give reflexology shot. Reflexology is a special kind of massage that can provide maximum pain relief for hand and foot pain. While doing this, you should also stretch your hand and apply ice packs to your hands.

There are also plenty of herbs that can be taken to relieve or even eliminiate carpal tunnel by acting as anti-inflammatory agents and dilating the blood vessels. Good herbs for treating carpal tunnel include:

  • Ginger
  • Ginkgo Biloba
  • Meadowsweet leaves
  • Rosemary
  • St. John’s Wort
  • Tumeric
  • Willow bark

But generally, a healthy diet should prevent carpal tunnel, especially one that is high in vitamin B6. Not working too often, keeping your arms away from you while working, taking frequent breaks, keeping your hands straight, and avoiding resting your hands on a surface will also help, since the best way to prevent carpal tunnel is to eliminate the daily strain that causes it.

For people with any kind of hand pain, I recommend that while working to heal the condition, you also check out technological gadgets to get you through your day. For example, after 20 years as a Macintosh user, I switch to PC, so that I could get Dragon NaturallySpeaking — which is the leading voice activated software. While the technology is far from perfect, making that switch enabled me to get up and running again as a writer. (I wrote a post about it here: http://dancingwithpain.com/simple-act-of-kindness/ ) I also got other gadgets, like an automatic can opener and a jar opener for people with arthritis. These changes in my life made all the difference in the world!

Turmeric has a great usefulness. Turmeric is a herb that contains a powerful anti-inflammatory chemical called curcumin. The herb has traditionally been used in India’s Ayurvedic medicine to treat pain and inflammation. Pineapple is also usful for carpal Tunnel syndrome.
