How to Aid Bruises

bruise leg

The Birth of Bruises

A bruise can appear on anyone caused by a number of things, such as a hard fall or a hard punch. When a bruise appears this slowly shows the healing process over a period of time as the bruise changes colors. After a period of time the place where a bruise has formed will heal and those various colors will disappear. Not only do bruises not look pretty but they can also be sore and or painful sometimes, depending on how the bruise came to be in the first place. Fortunately, there are things that can be done to help aid bruises in their healing process.

Comfrey Tea Compress

The herb comfrey is good for anti-inflammatory. A comfrey compress can sometimes cause the color of bruising to get lighter, however, it must be done sooner than later. To apply a comfrey compress make sure the bruise has already been treated with an ice pack, and then soak a bandage in comfrey tea followed by applying the bandage to the bruise.

Parsley - Not Just For Food Decoration

Crush parsley leaves and apply to bruise followed by applying a bandage over top of the parsley leaves and bruise. Repeat this application from time to time.

An Easy Fix

St. Johns Wort is a semi-quick fix for bruises. Typically it can be purchased at most big pharmacy stores. By applying a few drops of St Johns Wort to a bruise, and allowing it to soak in, will help to speed up the process of healing.

Lavender and Rosemary At Work

Lavender and Rosemary essential oils are popular essential oils that are good for many ailments, including bruises. Lavender essential oil helps to ease pain, though it is also useful as an anti-inflammatory essential oil as well. Rosemary essential oil can help to get rid of the appearance of a bruise. To use lavender or rosemary to aid in the healing of bruises is quite simple. Combine a few drops of lavender essential oil or rosemary essential oil and cold water, soaking a soft cloth in the lavender/rosemary and water combination. Use the soaked cloth as a compress for bruises.

I give my clients organic apple cider vinegar in a roll on applicator to put on the bruise.
