The Not So Blissful Blister

A blister is a swelling part of the skin, which at times can look like a bubble filled with water (which is really pus). Blisters can be caused by burns, scalds, sunburns, insect bites, wearing the wrong shoes, etc. For something that usually doesn’t get any bigger than a nickel it sure can be painful, depending on what it is caused by. The most common spot for a blister would probably be somewhere on the foot due to so many people wearing shoes that are bad for their feet. Typically it is best to not pop a blister, so if it can be with held from then it is best to allow the blister to pop on it’s own. Now to attempt to get "bliss" out of a blister…

The Liquids

It can always help when something can be used to help heal a blister. Liquids such as vitamin E oil, zinc oxide cream, and aloe vera are all great when it comes to healing a blister. In fact vitamin E oil is extremely useful when trying to not let a scar form. If zinc oxide cream isn’t found on hand then diaper rash cream will work just as well in place of it.

To Bandage Or Not to Bandage

Blisters do need to breathe, so it is usually best to not apply a bandage to it. However, when wearing shoes it is best to apply a bandage to the blister so as not to cause yourself a lot of pain from your socks and or the inside of your shoe rubbing up against the blister.

Ye Ole Witch’s Brew

A nice way to relieve the pain caused by a blister is to apply witch hazel to it a few times day. This can also help to dry out the blister. Witch Hazel can usually be found at any pharmacy.
