More Than Just a Sore Throat

You Might be Suffering from Chronic Pharyngitis

Do you have sore throat, difficulty swallowing, or a scratchy throat. These symptoms sound like the common symptoms of a regular sore throat, but you might be suffering from a specific bacterial strain that causes pharyngitis. Pharyngitis can not only make you miserable, but the throat pain can last for a long time. One way to cope with pharyngitis is to use natural herbs meant to fight the bacteria causing pharyngitis and provide pain relief.

All Natural Treatments

If you are suffering from Pharyngitis, you might also be feeling flu-like symptoms. If you are experiencing a fever, your body is trying to fight off the bacteria in your throat. It is better to allow the fever to run its course, but if you want to increase or decrease the amount of heat in your throat, you can try using herbal heating pads and cooling wraps. One wrap can serve as both a heating and cooling wrap.

While waiting for the fever and pharyngitis to run its course, you should probably avoid acidic food. But gargling salty water can help fight the bacteria that is inside your throat. Other creamy foods can coat the throat and relieve pain.

There are also herbs that can help fight pharyngitis. Salvia officinalis has antibiotic properties. Cleavers can cleanse the lymph and improve your immune system function. Olive leaves are also good for fighting a variety of illnesses like pharyngitis. You might also want to try echinacea purpurea, which has been shown to fight both colds and flus.

Pharyngitis should ultimately be treated as a really bad sore throat. The pain might last awhile, but the only real cure for pharyngitis is rest. Only your body can heal this irritating disease. In the meantime, all you can do is try to relieve the pain.
