Another Day Happily tweaking my blog design to get that extra page view.

I got a bit frustrated with the number of blogs blogging about how to blog and make money. So please forgive the slight over statement.

Blogs as a medium have been wildly co-oped. Not that I am making a claim for blogging sainthood. I am the one responsible for trying to make money off this site.

This is what I found out.

For a medium that started as a  way for  people to  express their personal stories, rant and rave, it has been overwhelmed by an explosion of new uses. Personal blogs now make up about 10% of the total blogs. 

While Blogging about Blogging and making money off it has become about 30% of the blogs.

On one general social networking site 50% of the blogger groups were related to blogs about blogging.

On entrecard where it was easier to get a unscientific but a somewhat more reliable sample I grouped the blogs into general categories to get an overview. I used this site because most other sites allow a blog to be categorized under more than one heading.

Well it is not as bad as I thought but it is more than you might expect. 

 For the Details

One issue with this source, is that it self selects for blogs that are trying to build traffic. So there is a good chance that it does under count the personal blogs that really are not interested in developing traffic.

If anyone know of a good source for the current count of the number of blogs let me know.
