Yesterday morning I was lying in bed in tears because I hurt too much to get up and stretch. Finally I fell asleep again. Then a friend called. In the course of our conversation she asked me when I had taken a pain pill so I could get moving. I had forgotten pain medicine existed! Fibrofog is very sneaky. It leaves me so confused I occasionally can't remember basic things. Like pain pills. This makes me to think twice before taking one. I don’t know which pain is worse…the pain that is hurting me or the pain of forgetting simple things

That's so true! Its amazing how the fog can make us forget how to cope sometimes.
What do you take to relieve pain? Just asprin, or something else?
For pain management …I agree.. taking medicine is a last ditch effort for me as well. I need to learn to be better about stretching and drinking water, as I've found those two things to be enough to keep me at an even keel most of the time.
Right now i'm in a way bad downward spiral of pain and can't escape it.. I'm almost ready to turn to pills for it. But not quite.

Medications for pain
My arsenal against pain includes more than medications, like stretching, self-hypnosis, meditation, and hydrotherapy. My medication ranges from tylenol to demerol, though I avoid pills whenever possible. Vicodin can be a godsend on some days. Only go to the strong meds when I can't, literally, stop crying and get out of bed. Tylenol is my first line of defense, though,because it is an anti-inflamatory. I have also used guifenacin and NSAIDS.
Also its funny but the pros tell me
Try to get on top of the pain before it becomes unbearable. Even if it's only ibuprophen, something to slow down the spiral might help.

It is amazing that we can know how to help someone else but when it comes to our own selves — blank. We just plain forget.
I hadn't had a flare up for a LONG time and got taken down for the count on Saturday. Still recovering, Tuesday, still trying to push my way through work and school. Monday my (massage) students got a lecture on Fibromyalgia! They were great.
I too avoid all kinds of meds if at all possible. The only concession I make is a muscle relaxant (carisiprodol/Soma). Though it actually increases the brain fog feeling so I have to be careful.
This week I have started on some homeopathic remedies to see if they help… I'll let you all know how that works for me and the flare-up. Until then, do take care and keep doing the things that are best for you (I was so happy to see hydrotherapy mentioned! Good for you!).

Fibro fog confusion
I find with fibro fog, I simply just don't know what I am doing.
I get terribly confused, and sometimes scared. How do you
explain to people that you are simply not functioning normally?
I make so many mistakes and misjudge situations.
I even may become unable to which street I should take to return hom
I am just even scared of driving..and have given it up almost…
Since ..i am scared …I don’t know what else I will have too give up
As I already have given up many things..
I wonder if it’s the pain that has made me like this or the drug

Luckily there are many medications and supplements that can help! I used to have very severe cognitive problems and without proper treatment I would probably be fully demented by now. Nootropics and nimodipine are a real blessing. When it comes to supplements you can try e.g. ginkgo (which was a lifesaver for me for many years, until I got my Rx's), acetyl-L-carnitine, DL-phenylalanine (which also works as a great painkiller for many!), creatine, Rhodiola rosea, Bacopa monnieri and vitamin B12. Vinpocetine and centrophenoxine are OTC supplements in many places.
You don't have to suffer from the fog! I hope it does help ya
