Migraine pain is unbearable, but it doesn’t have to be!
It’s the all-knowing migraine. One where the pain starts in your neck….you rub, but it doesn’t seem to eleviate it. It begins to lurch up and migrate over your eyebrow, where it finally preys on your eye(s). You swear you can actually feel the volts of lightening pain steer their way to your brain. The light around you becomes sickening. Your stomach swirls. You take something to dull the pain and hope that you don’t vomit before the medicine has a chance to kick in. You swear those around you can hear the thumping going on inside your head. Dying can’t be this bad, you think. Well, I’ve been there. Here are my tips for how I deal with migraine pain, naturally. I hope they help, because I know at this point, you will do anything…
Tips for stopping the pain:
- Try not to let the migraine get to the point where you are sick to your stomach. As soon as you feel the pain, lie down. I know this isn’t always possible, but you have to make it possible, unless you want it to go to the point of no return. Close your eyes and try to rest for 10 minutes to a half hour.
- Rub your own shoulders. Dig your fingers in. Especially where it hurts. You’d be surprised at how well you can massage your own shoulders! If you can’t, have someone else.
- Take a warm bath. Not hot. Sometimes the heat from the bath water can make it worse. Cover your eyes with a warm washcloth and rest. You need silence.
- Put a bag of frozen peas on the back of your neck where it started. A cold compress can actually stop the nerve endings from sending jolts of pain.
- Drink a tea that is "relaxing". Try one that is for stress. Something that has chamomile, peppermint, and ginger. Chamomile is relaxing. Peppermint will help with nausea. Ginger is a natural pain reliever.
