Warm and Toasty Before Bed

Getting a Good Night’s Rest with Teas, Oils, and Heating Pads

My wife is a frequent sufferer of insomnia, and she is often fatigued, moody, and complaining of aching muscles. After being awake all night, my girlfriend is often rummaging through her medicine cabinet for pain relief. Her insomnia is due to her inability to relax at night. However, there are heating pads that can help beat insomnia and bring a restful night’s sleep to those who suffer from insomnia.

Chamomile tea, which has chamazulene in its essential oils, is known to calm nerves and relax the body. Drinking a hot cup of chamomile tea before bed helps immensely, however, for those individuals who are allergic to ragweed, chamomile tea may not be the answer for you. Warming a cup of milk and stirring in some nutmeg has the same effect as chamomile tea, but without the allergic reaction those with allergies may suffer from. Nutmeg, like chamomile, helps to induce sleep, and when it is mixed with warm milk, your body may instantly feel calm within the first sip.

Lavender oil also has a calming influence on those who suffer from sleep deprivation. If you have a vaporizer, you can put some of the lavender essential oil in it, and have the calming scent waft through your room all night. Another option is to make a water and lavender oil spray and spray your pillow and sheets with the soothing mix.

Finally, peppermint is another option for curing insomnia. If you rub peppermint lotion into your feet and heat with a heat pad, the warmth, combined with the peppermint, will instantly make you feel sleepy. Peppermint helps to release serotonin in the brain, creating a relaxed feeling throughout your body. Keeping your feet warm also relieves stress; Use aromatherapy booties that aid in helping with insomnia.

Natural insomnia remedies are better than OTC drugs and prescribed medications because you wake up refreshed and non-drowsy. Hopefully, these natural remedies work for you.
